I have attached a scan of a page from a book showing graphically what the sound of that time was.

I was wondering if there is an actual sound recording. Anyone know?

I have never come across a book that covers the techniques of sound ranging and would love to read up about this subject.

America's Munitions

Not about recording actually. It is a rather odd treatment of America's manufacturing efforts during the War.

It certainly brings it home how 'immediate' the ceasefire came about. Gives me chills just to imagine it

I've actually been in touch with the folks who "reanimated" that chart recording of Clair de Lune. They took a picture, in effect, and "Played" it with new technology. I would like to hear that recording ... it is even 4 channels!

the recordings really would be interesting to hear.. i wonder what type of mics would have been used... and recorded 4 track too.. i also wonder why they would have record 4 tracks.. no quad speaker arrangement back then.. this gets more interesting the more i think about it... think im gonna have o picks some brains in the equipment section...

Check p. 383 in my reference, above. It contains a discussion of the technology. It is pretty neat stuff.
