My lasting memory of Paschendaele 11/11/2008 will be of a poppy wreath laid at Tyne Cot.
It was a tribute to a Father from his daughter whom he had seen for the first and last time when she was three months old ,and from his Grandaughter who he never knew.

The ceremony at Crest Farm on 10th was most memorial, it will remain in my memory forever, a bit windy but worth a trip from UK to take part.

Hi--I noticed an old"thread" of yours ( I believe started by you? ) about HARRY FARR ( executed)--this thread/ topic has now been "moved", seemingly.
Could you tell me if this thread still exists on the FORUM--and if so where?
(I'm interested in further info on this "brave" man and his background)
Hope you can help.
Many thanks. Best wishes.

The Morning Edition of CBC Radio in Canada recently requested war time memorabilia for its website. It was part of the 2008 Remembrance Day activities and the 90th anniversary of the Armistice. One of the items selected was a silver cigarette case my late Grandfather was carrying in his left breast pocket during the latter stages of the Battle of Passchendaele – the case blocked a piece of artillery shrapnel and saved his life on 6 November 1917.

You can view the cigarette case at the following website:

In addition, here is an interview about Pte Richard Wm Mercer from the Borden Motor Machine Gun Battery during Remembrance Day in Canada:
