Looking for help with 1st HLI mid Dec 16 to mid Jan 17 re:whereabouts.Have them as part of the Sirhind Brigade of 3rd(Lahore)Div.The 2 men im looking for are buried in the Amara War Cemetery if that helps.Thanks in advance

Main action was the attack on the Kudhaira Bend position 11/1/17 when 1 HLI lost 15 officers & 196 men.

You might want to download Proud Heritage Vol III by Lt Col Oats (History of the HLI 1882 - 1918) from

Costs a fiver these days but covers the entire first war, hard copies cost a fortune though my local main library has a copy.
