Another difficult one:

Name: Robert Marshall
Residence: Shawhead, Dumphries
Death Date: 19 Jul 1916
Enlistment Location: Aylesbury, Bucks
Rank: Private
Regiment: Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry
Battalion: 2/1st Bucks Battalion.
Number: 266236
Type of Casualty: Killed in action

Robert clearly had a strong local connection to Bucks because he travelled all the way from Scotland to enlist at Aylesbury. According to June's site Buckinghamshire Remembers http://fp.underw.f9.co.uk/bucksrems/index.htm he is not, however, commemorated on any of the Bucks memorials.

It might be that he was born in Bucks/Oxon of Scottish parents or, perhaps, born in Scotland and raised locally. There is a Robert Marshall born in the Sep quarter 1891 in the Henley District but the 1901 and 1911 census carry it no further forward.
