If any Forum member is going to be in the Ypres area this coming summer, would they be willing to take a small trip to the above and photgraph a headstone for me?

The subject is the grave of my great uncle who is interred there. If this is possible, I can PM the CWGC details.

Hello Marnik:

Many thanks for your kind offer. PM has been sent with Details at Underwood Farm Cemetery.

I have only just seen this and have just got back from Underhill where my gg uncle Frank Brotherton is buried. As far as I know I am the first and only relative to have visited. What a peaceful resting place it is, so tranquil and surrounded by fields. So sorry I did not see your posting before I went. I have tried to attach some of my general photos but the upload keeps failing due to size of file. If you email me I will send them to you. I have only just joined this site, so still trying to find my way around it.
regards
Elaine

I visited Underhill CWGC in May this year where I took a photograph of the graves of two Gunners from the RFA. buried alongside each other, KIA the same day. They were Gnr.Penny and Gnr. Royle. I wondered whether their Sgt Major had paired them due to their names. Rather sad that they served together and died together. Every cemetry seems to have tales to tell.

My Great Uncle Fred Lycett (AIF) is also buried at Underhill Farm. Finally managed to make the trek from down under in 2007 - the first family member to visit since my Grandfather erected the initial cross on his grave in 1917.

It's a beautifully peaceful place.

Cheers,
Tim L.

Thanks to all for posting

I know Underhill is quite small and am awaiting some pictures from another Forum member.

Elaine, I will try and PM you if you still have your pictures.

Elaine, unfortunately you have not been a member of the Forum long enough and made enough posts to enable your PM function. There is a bit of a trick to reducing photo size to conform with Forum rules. My email address can be found through a member search if you want to send me pictures. I can see if I can post them on your behalf.

It wont let me PM, or even find you as a member! how long do you have to be a member in order to do these basic functions?
I still have the photos and will gladly share once I am 'let in'!

Hi Elaine:

I believe the moderators have set the limit for Personal Messaging and member searches at 10 posts. I guess they want to make sure you're going to stay a while!
