I'll post the details here as they develop - but leave this thread locked and pinned so any suggestions and comments can still be added to the main thread.

The conference will be at the Tally Ho Conference Centre, Pershore Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham on 20th March 2010. The cost of the day will be £25 per person (including lunch, tea and coffee, not including evening meal) - if you want to come, please can you send me a cheque for £10 payable to the Great War Forum Ltd - click on the Donations link in my signature for the address. Alternatively use Paypal to pay the deposit - again the details are in the Donations link. The deposit to book the venue is being sent today (14th July)

There are three Travelodges (www.travelodge.co.uk) within a mile or so of the Conference Centre - as of this moment, all have "saver" double rooms available at £29, but that rate will only be for a limited number of rooms. The normal flexible rates are £66.

In addition, the conference centre has concessions with the Holiday Inn in central Brimingham (0870 400 8135) - quote "exclusive rates".

Five esteemed forum members have kindly agreed to speak - Bryn Hammond, Charles Fair, Charles Messenger, Peter Hart and Martin Brown.

At present it looks like the plan for the day will be -

10.00 - 10.30 : arriving
10.30 - 11.30 : Bryn Hammond : Cambrai 1917 - The Myth of the First Great Tank Battle
11.45 - 12.45 : Charles Fair : The Changing Character of the London Territorial Force 14-18: The case of the 19th (Co. of London) Battalion, The London Regt (St. Pancras)
12.45 - 14.00 : lunch
14.00 - 15.00 : Peter Hart : Aces Falling - The War Above the Trenches 1918
15.15 - 16.15 : Charles Messenger : The BEF of 1918
16.30 - 17.30 : Martin Brown : Violets, Kangaroos and Bustards: The Plugstreet Project
17.30 - 19.00 - mingling
19.00 onwards - dinner

There will be the opportunity for forum members to bring along their books to sell, or set up displays. Please let me know if you are interested in this.

I've more to add here and will do so over the days to come

Thanks

Alan
