I cannot speak for Canada, but here in the UK that is a very well known book. Anyone interested in the war in the trenches should have it on their bookshelf. It has been available here as a re-print for many years.

Just read it. Bought from Boarders, I think. It has hugely added to my knowledge bank as is well written.
