I'm looking for information regarding Captain William Barras Hore. He originally enlisted around 1893 in 120th Rajputana Infantry before being seconded to the 9th West Yorkshire Regiment in 1901. He fought with the latter at Gallipoli and was killed there on the night of 6th/7th August during the Suvla Landings. He was recommended for a DSO by his commanding officer for his actions at the storming of Lala Baba hill - for which he lost his life.
If anyone has anything to share in regards to this gentleman I would very much appreciate it.
Thanks

If you have not already seen it then there is a two page entry for the 9th Service Bn of the West Yorkshire Regt in 'British Regiments at Gallipoli' by Ray Westlake. It lists the Officers and describes the attack on Lala Baba Hill 'which the War Diary records as being in two lines - B and A Companies, D and C Companies, slow and over rough sandy ground. Ten snipers bayoneted on route. Everard Wyrall in his history of the Regiment notes that conditions were pitch black and the country entirely unknown. Confusion arose as the enemy were able to come right down on to the beach and fire on the advancing troops from the rear. Captain Hore killed, Lt. Worsnop mortally wounded.'
See August 1914 Army List - Hore is listed as Captain Indian Army wef 12 August 1908. Also listed as Double Company Commander in 120th Rajputana Infantry (late 20th Bombay Infantry) - see entry 2178.
The April 1909 Army List - graduation of Officers page 916:
Hore, William Barras date of birth 30 Aug 1879.
2nd Lt West Yorkshire Regt 12 Aug 1899
Lieutenant West Yorkshire Regt 1 June 1901
Lieutenant Indian Army 2 Oct 1902
Captain Indian Army 12 Aug 1908.
I hope this helps.
