With the help of Forum users I understand that 40935 Pte Bertie Watson, 2nd Essex Regt was reported wounded in the War Office Weekly Casualty List of 23 Sept 1918. I have consulted the database of wounded soldiers referred to in postings on this site but Bertie is not mentioned. From the documentary examples shown it seems that information may be available about the nature of the wound and the hospitalisation/ location of the soldier. I am keen to find any details concerning Bertie’s wound and hospitalisation.

I am, also, interested to find out more about my Grandfather’s wound, whilst serving with the 13th Royal Fusiliers at Achiet Le Grand. He was wounded on 23 August 1918. His number and name is GS-79089 Pte Bertie F Manser.

I understand that there were lists of wounded published but researching these lists can be problematic. However, I do not know where to begin in locating these lists so would be most appreciative of any guidance and assistance from Forum Members who are experienced in the use of these sources or other appropriate sources.

Thank you for any information or guidance received

The Times carried lists of wounded if his Record of Service is extant that may well record details
