Some 10 years ago my sister-in-law brought this picture from an auction house in Cheam, Surrey.
After a couple of house moves the picture ended up in the garage whereupon her father (in his wisdom) decided the frame would be of better use for one of his own compositions!

Yesterday on a visit, I enquired about the picture and she has passed it onto me for safe keeping and possibly an identification.

Firstly, if somebody out there with more knowledge than I could confirm it's the Royal Artillery I would appreciate it.

Secondly, any useful tips on how to preserve this picture would be most welcome. My brother is going to retrieve the original black oval frame but as you may see it is suffering from some decay and disintergration.

kind regards
Stuart

Hi Stuart,

A nice photo, for starters keep this out of strong light to stop further fading, you will need to get to to
a paper conserver to have it restored, this will not be cheap or, you could always have it copied
and then digitally restored/ touched up, you could then frame the copy, and keep the original safe.

Yes the badge is that of the Royal Artillery.

Daggers, many Thanks.

Peter, Thank you for the advice. It looks like a digital copy will be the have to be the answer as I dont have the funds for a restoration.

regards Stuart.
