I was recently contacted by Dick Robinson who runs the Edith Appleton.org website, who wondered if I had any knowledge of the origins of this stained-glass memorial panel, which has turned up in Canada. I've attached one image of the window, but the story behind it is in the accompanying link.

Lovely, it reminds me of the window in the Wesleyan Church on City Road in London (opposite Bunhill Fields) but it's probably not related.

Yes, I wonder if it can be established who produced it? This would be a help. No doubt there are stylistic clues for those who know their stained glass.

What a nice thing for the RAMC Museum to have.

A beautiful item; I wonder if it might have been part of set? It might be worth contacting:

to see if they know anything; I would think if anybody can identify the artist or know anything about it, it might be them.

Looking at the uniforms and the colour of the glass I would say that this window was produced around 1920/22. and the prominance of the First Aid symbols there may be a connection to the Red Cross or the Medic corps.

Thanks for some ideas - the stained glass museum looks worthwhile. And what a lovely window in that last link at Swaffham. It was obviously a fairly popular subject - I know of a similar window in St. Bartholomew the Less, Smithfield. But I've no idea whether it was common to remove them during WW2, and if so I wonder where most of the glass went and what was its fate? But at least something new to ponder on.

I seem to recall somewhere over the past year or so

looking at an Ebay Auction on Ebay U.S.A.

for a whole range of stained glass church windows that had been salvaged from

a "decommissioned" Church in Canada.

At the time they were being offered as a job lot for a humongous price.

Maybe this is one of the pieces that was placed for offer.

Yes a beautiful window. Medical themes exemplifying duty, pain, suffering, help and sacrifice are very common. There are several Canadian examples and not just in stained glass window format. Just one example is the Anglican church (Church of the Redeemer) at Avenue Road and Bloor Streets in downtown Toronto that has a beautiful stained glass window of a stretcher bearer.
