Hello John,
I invited the Yorkshire Pals to meetings of the Wakefield Military History and Medals Club which meets in the Horbury Band Club Rooms on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Several people showed interest and two or three Pals visited. There is also the Western Front Association, there are two Branches in Yorkshire; one meets in York and the other is based in Kippax. I'd be interested in meeting up and I'm sure there might be one or two more with a bit of arm twisting. Where are you in Yorkshire and what are your interests ? Hope this stimulates some response to your post !

Ron

Hi Ron and Ponte,
I'm out towards the dales between Skipton and Settle, at a bit of a disadvantage as no transport of my own so rely on the public variety !, I joined the WFA and with the York meetings being on saturdays they are do able by train for me so hope to get one in this year. My main interest has been looking at the actions of the 14th(light) division in 1916 and 1917 as family members served, also interested in the battle of Amiens and the 3rd London regiment in the 100 days as my grandfather was transfered to them in 1918,
kind regards,
John.

None of my visits home (Thirsk) have coincided with a meeting that I am aware of, but if it did I'd certainly put in an appearance ...

It looks like 'Trish' and Mike Woods have produced a wonderful publication (They have. I was looking at it today in the library). There has also been some wonderful work compiled by those involved in transcribing the Telegraph and Argus.

I can recommend the Wakefield Club having sneaked in to one of their events a couple of years ago. A very friendly crowd, even when they doscovered I'm from the wrong side o't Pennines.

I was just thinking about this myself today, nice indeed to see a few other Yorkshire folk.
I live in Harrogate, and work over in the Dales, and would be interested to know about the kind of meetings that go on. I can get about by train or car, only problem with Yorkshire is it's so big!

Having usually attended an remembrance event with friends and living history group members in Shropshire I'm not likely to be able to get down there easily this year I'm probably going to attend a local one hereabouts. Spolit for choice in Harrogate they have about 5 parades in different spots at the weekend. Anyone been to any, or is there one on in York.? Any of the forum pals getting together. I thought about going up to Hartlepool because 3 of my relatives are commemorated there but I don't know anything about the services.
Regards
Matt
