My Grandfather and my wifes Grandfather were both in the 9th Battalion at this time, and Fred Morton DCM/MM all remembered. BRONNO.

Fred Morton MM came from the same village as my Mum.
He is commemorated on the Addenda wall of the Tyne Cot Memorial. For some reason his details were recorded late and he is not in the SDGW book for N&D either.

Bronn0 - I have no record of a DCM for him though.

No I am from Ripley. My Mum met me Dad who was born at Tagg Hill Heanor at Ripley Wakes, and after marriage moved to Peasehill Road (opposite the army surplus place). Fred is on the memorial and the gates of the Church. Capt Dixon of 1st Bn is also on the Memorial.

Yes he was killed on 12 March 1915 at Neuve Chapelle and commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial. He visited Gt Longstone for the last time in january 1915 for his Mum's funeral.
