Remembering 19 year old Private Ernest Campbell G/11275.
Known as "Soapy" to his pals he was part of D Companys Machine Gun Section.
A Case Makers Labourer from Deptford, London he enlisted on the 20th November 1915 and became good friends with my Grandfather.
Killed by the same shell that wounded my Grandfather, who wrote in his journal after the war

"...looked at Soapy, he was lying on his side, head moving slowly from side to side...then quite still."
