Freddie was my great uncle. He was with the 1st Battalion, City of London (Royal Fusillers). He died during the action for Spectrum Trench in the Battle for the Transloy Ridges on the Somme which took place 07th/08th October 1916. His grave is unknown as conditions on the Somme that night were so poor that casualties were not immediately buried, he is commemorated at Thiepval
