Hi all it seem that i have upset some mambers of the forum by my mis quote
is is not ment to be taken from the original .
The peice i use was said to me at goose green in 1982 as i was presumed dead when found by a medic now best friend , the preist gave me the last rites and on turning me over to face up .
they came under fire from the enemy i breathed and in hast gave the wrong quote .
and this i have used as my own..

Good man Cossak. I think your explanation should satisfy all doubters!

Cossack,

I'm sure that we are all glad that, in 1982, the priest got it wrong!

I think you got the wrong end of the stick, Cossack.

Nobody was upset by your quote (or, at least, it didn't seem so to me anyway)...the discussion ended up revolving around the quote that is inscribed on the 2nd Div memorial at Kohima and how it has been changed over the years. I believe (correctly or incorrectly - maybe he'll confirm?) that the poster who mentioned "is nothing sacred" was referring to the changes on this memorial, and not what you wrote in your post.

Don't worry about it.... many mis-quotes are much better than the originals anyway (and live on longer!) laugh.gif

Good job he was a priest and not a doctor.

It sparked an interestin discussion, so thanks for starting it. And your point about poppy-wearing was apt, valid and timely.
