Hello,
Apologies for the amateur nature of this my first post. My grandfather, Rupert Thomas Tremayne Waring was a 2nd Lieut with the RFC in 1917 through till after Armistice. He was a pilot and was, family recollections state at least, shot down in France but made it back to safety although he had a back injury. The story goes that he was in Paris on Armistice Day and he celebrated with a few girls from the Folies or some such other troupe. That may or may not be correct, but I am trying to research his service years. He was (again I'm told but not verified by me) a member of 52 Squadron. I have inherited his RFC wings and badges, and his campaign medals (although that's not been handed to me yet). I also have a half a propellor that used to hang in his study when I was about four or five and which I was told was a tongue-in-cheek souvenir of a plane he crashed at Croydon!
My online success is limited so far. I have found his mention in the October 11th 1917 ‘Flight & The Aircraft Engineer’ (Official organ of the Royal Aero Club of the United Kingdom No 459 ( No 41 Volume 9) under section ‘The British Air Services” p 1059:

As I live in Bahrain it is pretty hard for me to go in person to the the National Records archives.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT FO 2nd Lieut R T T Waring?
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY PHOTOS OF 52nd Squadron?
Many thanks for your kind assistance,
Tom Waring
