The Brookwood (United Kingdom 1914-1918) Memorial was originally intended only for those casualties who died in the UK and whose graves were not located or whose bodies were not recovered. Nowadays, it is also used occasionally for those who died overseas outside the war zones or at sea where no suitable memorial is available or where additions can no longer be made to an existing memorial.
However, in the cases above who died in India, CWGC is checking whether one of the memorials in India can be used for these commemorations so they may be moved if that proves possible.
