Any photo's out there of the 181st Brigade during the Palestine campaign? Interested especially in any photo's of the 2/23rd London reg't during their time in Palestine 1917.
I have some pic's -but I believe them to be of the 2/24th--2/22nd or the 2/21st London reg't only ( from Salonika----journey across Med' to Egypt, camping, Suez,Hill 1060, Beersheeba jerusalem etc etc)-but NOTHING of the 2/23rd London Reg't. Would appreciate any info.
"THANKS". DAVE.

I have a photo album, belonging to my late Grandfather, 2nd Lt. J E Arden, Cheshire Regt, attached to the 2/22nd London Regiment. There are pictures of the trenches at Hill 1070, captured Turks, a damaged railway bridge at Tel-el Sheria, captured guns, bridge building operations across the Jordan, besides plenty of 'tourist' pictures of Jerusalem and Jericho (plus quite a few taken in Egypt). There is also a very nice picture of General Shea, besides various pictures of bivouac areas etc. None of these pictures is of the 2/23rd but you might be interested in seeing some of them. I'll post them when I have reduced their size sufficiently to be acceptable by this website.

Cheers

As promised I attach a photo taken from my Grandfather's album. This one shows the Turkish trenches on Hill 1070 near Beersheba.Click to view attachment
