The poem below was recorded in a note book of my grandfathers. Does anyone know the exact origin of it ? I've found shorter and different variations of the poem, but have not been able to discover the author. Still when i read it, i get shivers down my spine. Cheers. John

No Mother on him did attend,
Nor o'er him, did a father bend
No sister by to shed a tear;
No brother his last words to hear.

Dead; lying in a foreign land,
No lover near to take his hand,
No comrade near to close his eyes;
Far from his native land he dies,
Some day, we hope to meet again
To clasp his hand in the Better Land
Never to part again.
