Hi Guys, I am seeking someone who may have done some research or someone who is quite familiar with the Manchester Pals. I have reviewed Stedman's book and theres alot that happened. Why I am seeking someone who is familiar with them is to sort of pick their brain about research resources in Manchester (I have also posted on the Manchesters.org forum). I have recently uncovered some interesting new material on them and believe someone with more detailed knowledge may be able to assist me. Any suggestions guys?

Kind regards,

Dave.

I've done a bit on the 17th Bn some years back (it was my first research exercise). If I can help, I will.

I'm happy to help you, I have done a lot of research on all the battalions of the Manchester Regt.

Brilliant. How much are you guys aware of the recruitment side of the Manchesters? Would email be best to talk about this in length?

I'm sure Mike Stedman would also be willing to have a chat with you. You can contact him via his site:

Can't claim anything more than general knowledge of the early weeks of recruitment. My research started in 1/15 when the fifth company was raised and grandad joined.

Apologies for the late posting to this thread, I've not been on the forum for a while. You may have already been pointed to it, but have you spoken with the folks at the Tameside Local Studies and Archive Centre:

I believe they hold the Manchester Regiment archives.
