The First Tuck to die in France.

Private 7606 William Tuck 1st Battalion Wiltshire Regiment

William was born in 1885 in Bishops Canning, Wiltshire the Son of Edward and Mary Ann. William was a professional soldier and on the outbreak of war married his sweetheart Bessie Lavinia Maud Sinnick. As a member of the British Expeditionary Force William and the rest of his Battalion landed in France on 28th August 1914.

He was killed just 25 days later on 21/10/1914 aged 29. William has no known grave and is therefore commemorated on Le Touret Memorial, France.

It may interest you to know that this soldiers Medals and death plaque are in the Regimental Museum at Salisbury and are viewable on the Regimental Museum Website at www.thewardrobe.org.uk.......then COLLECTION/NAME.
