I came across this in yesterdays paper and have posted advert just in case anyone local would be interested. According to the link below the course actually started on Tuesday 20 in York Street Campus and tonight at Magee Campus?

This course is now cancelled due to lack of numbers until the Spring Semester. The College only advertised it on the day the course started. They hope to run it in the new year when they have clearly advertised it in advance!
The Course is over 9 weeks.
Wk1 - Background to War: the Home Rule question.
Wk2 - Popular Culture & the Great War
Wk3 - Somme Heritage Centre
Wk4 - Military History and Great War Commemoration
Wk5 - Oral tradition & the Great War
Wk6 - Somme Heritage Centre - Introduction to Record collection an examination of rescued war memorials.
Wk7 - Wk9 - Tracing your family history in the Great War - Acessing major resources and the research process.
The course will have prepared members with a grounding in the history and politics of the Great War and its commemoration, together with the techniques of genealogical inquiry.

Thanks Tommy and Adrian
This looks a fascinating taster to BA degree once up and running. I notice that the £120 fee includes field trips. Very reasonable. It's a pity I live on t'other side of the pond.
