Just recently two of INF cold project men were added to the list of the Cwgc--one from 2nd Royal Inniskillen Fusiliers +one from 9th Royal Inniskillen Fusiliers--both killed in May 1916--and are to be placed on Loos memorial!!?--both should be in the Somme area--Thiepval Memorial seems the obvious place, but only men form 1st July 1916 on Thiepval!!!???--any reason why these men should not be commemorated in the area they died???

The 9th Royal Inniskillen fusiliers carried out a trench raid on the 8th May 1916 near Martinsart(Somme) --Pt J. Fox disappeared and despite extentsive searches he could not be found- the diary states it was believed he had been hit by a shell.

Thiepval commemorates men up to 20 March 1918.

Have you asked CWGC why Wesley as you have posted a few times in separate areas about this. Thiepval should commemorate missing from when British units arrived in the area in 1915 until March 20th, 1918. At least they are to be commemorated (if erroneously) which is more than they have been for the last 93 years.

I am of the opinion that the two men I originally named in my post both should be on Thiepval Memorial--not Loos.
Can someone with more knowledge of these matters, please tell me the reason behind Cwgc decision.

I have contacted the CWGC WITH INFORMATION from 9th Royal Inniskillen Fusiliers diaries which clearly states that Pt J. Fox was killed on the Somme. The CWGC have acknowledged my contact, but state they are small team and reply may take 6 weeks.

Good morning Mr Wright Thank you for your email dated 13 November 2009 regarding the wrong place of commemoration for Private John Fox. Thank you for the additional information and upon on reflection and further investigations we have amended the database to reflect this. The casualty database has been amended and I have made arrangements for his name to be engraved on the Addenda Panel of the Thiepval Memorial. This will take several months as drawings have to be made and the panels engraved. We are grateful to you for bringing this to our attention and your interest in the Commission. Kind regards Maria

Thanks to all who advised me to contact CWGC. They agreed with me and changed the place of commemoration.
