It might be a totally different family, but I remember reading in a newspaper from Motherwell about a soldier by the name of Daly who had been returned to Scotland from being a prisoner in Germany, possibly c1916. If I remember rightly, this particular soldier might have had a leg amputated while in a German Hospital. The only reason I mention him is that the article made mention of his brothers, and I'm sure it said that one had been killed early in the war. Of course, I now can't find the article, though I have it typed up somewhere, so I can't even check the details.

Does any of this sound familar to you, or am I barking up the wrong tree?
