I am looking for information on R.G.H. Murray. He was a pre-war pilot, 1912, and was awarded an MC in 1915 with the 9th Gurkha Rifles. It would appear that he entered the Royal Flying Corps sometime in 1916 serving with Home Defence (39 and 50 Squadrons I believe). He was promoted to Major during the war. He does not, however, appear in the 1918 RAF list. I know he survived the war, emigrating to Canada around 1920.
Could anyone point me toward a source that would help shed some light on his RFC/RAF service?
Thanks!

Have you looked for his RAF service record in AIR 76/366? These are on microfilm at Kew.

Robert George Hamilton Murray Royal Aero Club certificate 320 granted on 15 October 1912, there should be a copy of his record card and photograph on Ancestry.com.
I cannot find him in my August 1914 AFL. He is listed in my November 1916 list as Flt Cmdr and T/Capt 9 Ghurkha Rifles.
December 1917 List Sqn Cmdr 1/5/17.
August 1919 list Sqn Ldr 1/8/18.
MC awarded when serving with Ghurkha Rifles.
Commanded the following squadrons
39 Sqn 20/03/17 - 07/07/17
31 Sqn 22/07/17 - 00/09/18
142 sqn 20/01/19 - 01/02/20
Hope this helps

As he served with the Ghurkhas he was an Indian Army Officer, using the Access to Archives search engine I found several references to service records including:
Murray, Robert George Hamilton IOR/L/MIL/9/301/41 [n.d.]
These documents are held at British Library, Asia, Pacific and Africa Collections

Thank you very much for this further information.
I just downloaded Murray's photograph from ancestry.com
It was quite eerie looking at his pilot's license photograph from 1912!
I think I would like to hire someone to retrieve his records from the UK archives.
Please PM me if you could recommend someone for the job.
