I was in Dozinghem Cem last week and passed a grave. Enoch Tonks and thought it strange it had his full first name all other graves appear to just have initials. Are first names used on headstones or is this an odd one out?

303man,

No it is certainly not unique. I was intrigued by your post and I have just spent a few minutes going through a couple of days worth of my images from the Somme area, and whilst definitely a minority there are more than one or two gravestones containing the full name of the casualty.

Ian.

Paul

Did they have to pay extra (UK that is) in the same way as for an inscription?
