The base of the churchyard memorial has this verse, but does anyone recognise it?

ETERNAL HONOUR TO THE TRUE AND BRAVE
WHO FOR THEIR NATIVE LAND THEIR LIFE-HOOD GAVE
D

It is quoted on the Burton War Memorial (is that yours?) - see here

Also, in St.Andrews Church of Scotland, Gibraltar, hangs an epitaph to Soldiers of Highland Regiments who made that supreme sacrifice.

Eternal honour to the True and Brave,
Who for their native land their lifeblood gave.

Yes that's the one. I have a photo but could not get it to load. Interesting site you found.
The slight difference in one word between the B-in-K and Gibraltar versions is curious.

[I do not have the Gaelic, so the third Gibraltar line remains a mystery]
