Went to see this play yesterday afternoon. Members of the Forum rated it highly in an earlier thread. As usual you were right.

There was so much to appreciate that it is difficult for me to select highlights - the duty routine of the officers, idealism of the young Raleigh, the dismay but acceptance of Uncle of the ridiculous raiding party order, the humour and the regret.

As was discussed in the earlier thread, I expected to suffer from 'numb bum' but was so engrossed that it seemed quite a short time.

It was well produced and the sound, lighting and scenery were excellent.

Because it was a matinee, the audience consisted mainly of school parties and the theatre was full. Seeing all the mobile phones, bags of popcorn etc. before we went in I expected not to be able to enjoy it without distractions. Actually the audience was totally engrossed and followed the play intently.

The cast must have been very moved by the rousing appreciation expressed by this young audience at the end.

I will never forget the sight of the cast in uniform standing still and in silence, in front of the memorial names listing, while all those young people cheered.

It seems that we don't need to worry that it will all be forgotten.
