I have just discovered that Waterlot Fam, on the Longueval - Guillemont Road was not a farm but a sugar refinery. It was completely destroyed during the war but rebuilt afterwards. Thank you The Battle of the Somme, A Topographical History.

I was there about 20 years ago and it was derelict. There was a very deep well there though.

Does anyone have any pictures of the place during the war - before it was destroyed? My granfather passed through it in 1916.

regards to all
Paul Reed
There is a photo of the pre-war farm in Walking The Somme and several others in Ian Uys' Delville Wood and Longueval. I don't have the original photo to hand to post for you at present.
