I know this must be almost impossible and maybe a stupid question, but would it be possible to identify this ship just by looking at this picture?
Michael Lowrey
Teddy,

To me it most looks like a Virginia class battleship -- turret on top of turret, plus another largish turret on the side. Not necessarily an exact match though.

Mr Lowrey,

Thank you for your reply. I am truly amazed by the fact that you could even say that much judging from this picture. :-)

Well it's about the only ship with a large gun turret on top of an even larger gun turret like what it seems to be in the picture. Of course, it's also possible that this might just be a generic illustration that doesn't show a real ship or that the guns are suppose to be of the same size in a superfiring arrangement...

For a picture of the Virginia, see http://www.hazegray.org/features/gwf/gwf-b13.jpg -- it's not an exact match.
