Hi guys.
I have tried every different search but I cannot find the MIC of 733 Gunner Charles Oxtoby Barker, SDGW says he 'died at home' 1/3/1916 and the CWGC says he died 21/2/1916, His number is 733. Any ideas what the matter is?

The likelyhood is that he spent his service in the UK and therefore never qualified for a medal.

Thanks Terry, no medal and died during ww1? Is this unusual?
Regards.

Not that unusual Tom. A couple of possibilities spring to mind: that he was medically unfit for overseas service, or that he was a pre-war Territorial who had not taken the Imperial Service option, which was his right.

Does this mean that he could be a soldier who died in ww1 and was entitled to a death plaque(?) but not medals?
Does this occur often?

As far as I am aware, the issue of a commemorative plaque was not conditional upon the award of campaign medals. I can't comment upon the number of occurances I'm afraid.

Exactly right ,Tom.

There were many more Death Plaques issued than medal groupings to the dead.
