Gary Sheffield refers to this book in his work "Leadership in the Trenches". It was pub London 1920 by Nelson c. 360 pp. I have checked it out on abebooks and it appears to be a compilation of about 14 accounts with some illustrations. I think it may have been aimed at boys/children.

I am particularly interested in the account by Captain EGD Liveing of the 2/19th London Regiment (60 Div) which Sheffield quotes in his book. If someone has this would they please be able to let me know the length of Liveing's account and if it includes a photo of him or of the 2/19th.

I am trying to establish whether I should splash out on the book or make do with a photocopy.

Hi sorry about delay in answering this but ive been looking for my copy of this book.
There is no picture of Liveing, there is a sketch of a man called Speed, HQ Signaller.
The story is about 25 pages long.

From the battalion history it appears that he was wounded whilst repairing breaks in the telephone line from Bn HQ during the attack by 60 Div in the erly hours on 30 April 1918. He was under heavy fire "and seemed to have a charmed life; eventually he was hit".
