Thought I would bring to the Forum's attention the fact that West Middlesex Family History Society have been listing War Memorials in their area. Go to www.west-middlesex-fhs.org.uk/ and search on Indexes and Memorials for towns covered. Non members of WMFHS a £1 a go. As a member I can do look ups for free.
If anyone wants any done just PM me. It begs the question how many other County FHSs have similar listings.

Hi John,
Thanks for the offer. I don't know if this covers your area, but I have a number of lads who were killed with the 10th West Yorks who were from London-Middlesex.
I do have a few more, but I don't want to abuse your kind offer. I don't know if you've noticed from the small section, though, that there seems to be a higher proportion of 'Southern' NCO's serving with the West Yorks. This is something I'll have to look into. [Although there is a theory that some lads were reluctant to take orders from mates, and lads they had either grown up or worked with--perhaps that's the reason]
Kind Regards,
Dave

I would like to update the Forum on my original posting. The West Middx FHS have prepared an Index to their Memorial Registers on CD which I purchased on sunday at their open day. All it does is tell me if a name occurs in their registers and where the memorial is in the county but not the full details as maybe on the memorial. However it can be followed up with the FHS.
The parishes covered by West Middx FHS are :-
Acton, Ashford, Bedfont, Brentford, Chelsea, Chiswick, Cowley, Cranford, Ealing, Feltham, Fulham, Fulwell, Greenford, Hammersmith, Hampton, Hanwell, Hanworth, Harlington, Harmondsworth, Hayes, Heston, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Isleworth, Kensington, Knightsbridge, Laleham, Littleton, Notting Hill, Shepherds Bush, Shepperton, Southall, Staines, Sunbury-on-Thames, Teddington, Twickenham, Uxbridge, Whitton.
If anybody wants any look ups just PM me....

Dave, sorry for the long delay in coming back to you but I wanted to wait until I bought this CD. The only name and possible match for you is of a L/Cpl. W G Day who was an officer with The Metropolitan Water Board. This is on a Roll of Honour of officers who served in HM Forces bu no dates given on the Index.

Sorry about the delay in response John, but I completely forgot I'd posted the question. The info on L/Cpl Day is most useful, and I'll add it to my list. Would you know of any CD that might be of use regarding the other lads, or should I try and contact the FHS?
Kind Regards,
Dave

Thanks Andy,
I think I've cracked it, and didn't realise it was the IWM Webpage. I'll do a search later.
Kind Regards,
Dave
