Hello,

I could not find any other forum in which to ask this question.
My grandfather was wounded sometime between jan 1916 -may 1916. how do I find records if any of his being a casualty?, which c.c.s or eventually hospital would he have been sent to?.
Would there be anything in the battalion war diaries? 2nd batt. royal dublin fusiliers.

hello, thanks for your reply, I have the war diaries and the service records do not exist having been destroyed along with a number of others. Times online??, what is that??.

Where was he from? If he was from a small or medium sized town there is a very good chance that his wounding will have been reported by the local paper of the day. There are many, many examples of this.
I would try and find the newspaper closest to his birthplace/place of residence and then hit the relevant local studies library for a peek through the archives of old newspapers which have stored on microfiche.

Times on line - exactly what it says on the tin. Its "The Times" newspaper digitized and available on the internet , but you need a readers card - I got mine from the library
