Tim,
I only started to research James Bogue Elliott yesterday at tyhe RAF Museum Hendon after his record of service surfaced amongst a fid of old family papers I have had stashed away since they were sent to me on the death of my Father. "Jimmy" Elliott is my paternal grandfather - I have his record of service which if you give me your email I will send to you - it is too large to upload on this sysytem. his record of service - I am now trying to track down his flying log which was given to Air Historical Branch 2 in June 1972.

I have little else apart from am amusing correspondance betweem JBE and the Prince of Wales, who apparently visited and flew with 205 Sqdn (both Edward and Albert later KGVI visited) when serving on the Western Front. THey were strictly ordered that they were not to fly! It would appear that the Squadron was at La Louveterie near Morville, and JBE the OC - Grandfather gave Edward a watch and was given a rather fine silver cigarette case whcu has various signatures inside it written in pencil and never engraved.

JBE went on to have a fascinating career post WWI including starting up the Redcar Bus Company with his brother, a Brain Surgeon. He applied to rejoin the RAF at start of WWII to fly Spitfires but was rejected, I suspect on age and fitness grounds. He served ion the Home Guard instead.

What have you managed to find out about him?

I look forward to hearing from you.

With best wishes

Toby Elliott
