I know this is a cheeky placement for the topic but I think the metaphor works in terms of a battlefield in danger from modern developments.
I was searching for an obscure snippet of information when I discovered a chromed (*pimped*) engine block of today, being described as, "really Ginchy".
On digging a little deeper I found a reference to the fact that this was a 1930's American euphemism meaning, "sexy".
I also found this in a slang dictionary:
ginch: Pronounced with a hard g as in again.
(n) Synonym for story as in What's the story?
(v) Ginching--an all-encompassing term for having a good time.
(adj) Ginchy. Meaning really great.
Example: 1. What's the ginch, lads?
2.Basically I was ginching last night on the dance floor.
3.That meal was really ginchy.
Can anyone enlighten me as to the original usage of the word in this context? Also is there a resurgence of a '30s euphemism by today's youth and scene culture and if so, why?
dudes,
