I thought i would share another passion of mine with you, art! Hope you like them

(sorry for the quality, as they were too big to scan, the flash ruins them a bit!)
This one is A1 oil on paper, Thiepval at night with a trench leading to the memorial.

This is A3 oil on paper, Poppies near Thiepval

This is A3 oil on paper, Sanctuary wood.

Hope you enjoy looking at them

Hiya, Steph. Thanks for posting.
Think my favourite is the Sanctuary Wood one - particularly like the sort of ominous darkness of the Wood and the trench and then the daylight outside.

Hi Steph
You've obviously benefited from your visit there and sensing the atmosphere. The framing (eg the barbed wire) is the sort of device a photographer would try to use.
Thank you for sharing them. I envy people who can do art!

Can't pick between Poppies near Thiepval and Sanctuary Wood.
So much atmosphere in Poppies and the woods were my thing in France,.... a mixed bag of emotion in your wood. The red and black of the trench.......
Well done, Steph.

Hi Stephanie,
I feel that 'Poppies' is the best because it is the most 'painterly' and personal - keep painting your emotion and response rather than trying to make an accurate reproduction of the subject. I guess you're aware of contemporary war artists through your contextual and historical study.

Good use of imagination. There's a talent here that any teacher would have been proud to display when I was at school.
Well Done

Nice to see something a bit different. As a picture framer who enjoys his work, I would spend some time selecting the best frame for "Poppies at Thiepval". Are you going to post some more some time?
Keep painting, Jim

Well done Steph. I like the idea of the trench leading to the Thiepval memorial....and credit for tackling these in oils as well...not the easiest medium to work with.
look forward to seeing more of your work,
thanks, ET
