Phil Deeming
Hi,

Does anyone have any info on the location of the 11th battalion, worcestershire regiment at the time of my great uncles death.
He was:-
Serjeant:- Herbert alfred Deeming 14138
died on the 22nd April 1917, killed in action.

i believe a battle took place on the 24th april 1917, but i don't know any details. I've also been trying to get hold of a book call "under the devil's eye" but it appears to be out of print.

regards,

Phil

Try this website:

For the book - try Alibris or Amazon. I saw one copy available on Alibris UK by making a quick search.

PS - it might just be your typo, but it is spelt Doiran. ohmy.gif

Phil,

The action will be covered in the regimental history "The Worcestershire Regiment in the Great War" by Stacke which is arguably the best regimental history of the Great War. Libraries or archives may help with finding copies - and it has been reprinted. It's a bit late to heave my copy of the shelf, but if you get stuck, do ask.

Wakefield & Moody's "Under The Devil's Eye" went out of print in July or August last year having had a "not that large" print run - it will give you a good general overview of the campaign.

I had the privelege of walking this territory last September.

You may also wish to seek out the Salonika Campaign Society website.
