My old Dad went over to France for the day on Thursday and went to the Vis en Artois memorial to take a picture of a chap for me.

Having checked the name on CWGC before he went, the details were shown as follows:

Rifleman EJ Harvey, Royal Fusiliers, Panel 10

However having spent a good 20 minutes scanning panel 10 and the panels either side, he simply isn't there!

Any suggestions?
Terry Denham
Did he look under the right regiment?

HARVEY is listed as Rifle Brigade posted from London Regt (Artists Rifles) - not Royal Fusiliers.
Matt Dixon
That might explain it then. Thanks, bit of a schoolboy error really.

Look on the bright side Matt, you and your dad will just have to go out again to solve this issue. Make it a longer trip though just incase the problem still exists and you have to wait CWGC to put in a stone somewhere. 3 years max should do it. Enjoy.

Very true I suppose every cloud has a silver lining!

I should be passing the cem next weekend Matt, probably a week on Monday, I shall have my camera with me and will have a look for you. Having said that though, should you be using the excuse of not seeing the headstone as a reason to go out then I will be nowhere near the cem and I do not own a camera, just incase the wife finds this post lol.

That would be great if you could Kevin, thanks. The details Terry has posted are correct.

Matt,
His medal roll shows no service overseas with the Rifle Brigade and attached to the 1/28th Londons.

Thanks for that Andy. The information I have suggests that he was clerical officer in the RFC before joining the 28th London Regt in March 1918. I believe he was killed somewhere Le Barque, south of Bapaume.

Hi Matt,
Let me know if you need the medal roll and the 1/28th war diary for this time as I do have it on my secondary hard drive.

Andy

Matt Dixon
If you have the war diary that would be much appreciated.

You are a fine chap Andy, and once again I am most grateful.
