Remembered Today:

Noor

South Africa officer lieutenant P.S.James

Hi all,

As a medal collector I picked up yesterday a random British War Medal named to " LT P.S.JAMES". British officers medals would be named to LIEUT and Navy would have a service branch behind the name (RN, RNR, RNVR).

So, most likely Lieutenant James served with the SA forces.

Any help to locate him or find out his full name would be greatly appreciated.

Nice Sunday puzzle to resolve!

Timo

Yes, he was South African forces https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/31661/supplement/14664

Edit to add:- the notification continues on the next page which shows his promotion to Lt. 1 September 1918, and relinquishing his commission on 28 January 1919.

Further edit:- Staff Serjt.-Maj. Percy Stanley James gazetted 2nd Lt. 1st March 1918 https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/31116/supplement/504.

Is there any other databases available that would help me to trace him?
