I thought the forum might be interested to see some photos of the medals of Hans Heinrich Ernest Marwede.  On  Saturday I visited the Tangmere Military Avation Museum and according to information recorded next to them, he was the last surviving German fighter pilot of The Great War, when he died in 1994 aged 96 (from FMP, registered Hove) and he also served in the British Army during WW2.

One remark: it's not a Bavarian pilot's badge, but the Prussian version (given to all pilots who qualified apart from the ones from Bavaria).

Interesting story though, which resembles the von Ustinow/Ustinov story.

The first time I saw these pics yrs ago the story said he was attacking an American Balloon & was shot down by the AA guns of the Balloon Company & captured by the unit.

Interesting story of his post war life & escape from the Nazis & service with the British Army in WW2.

 Thanks for sharing this one.

Thanks for the link MVA, nice to read information from people that knew him.

I do live close enough to go back and correct them, AK04.

He has been discussed on this forum before

A quick google of him, will bring up the u tube footage of his capture.
