Minor changes to the Forum   12/12/17

We have altered the structure of the Home Fronts and Uniforms, Arms, Insignia, Equipment & Medals boards. We have removed the sub-category headings and now each board is more visible and easier to find. We have also renamed "About this website" and "Using theTechnology" to make it clearer where to post questions about the GWF website. We have also put a link ot the forum Rules on the main menu at the top to make them easier to find - particularly the section regarding requesting look ups on subscription sites such as Ancestry. Finally, for those who visit Skindles, there is a pinned post there detailing some changes to it.   Regards The GWF Admin Team

Who Wore This Mutz?

Who wore a mutz with a purple band? Definitely purple and not faded red. Could it be an enlisted man assigned to the Chaplain Corps?

I am no expert and only have a passing interest in these - but I think this might be a ponceaurot-coloured band, and obviously Bavarian. Maybe krankentraeger or a War ministry official's Muetze? I don't think there were any enlisted men in the Feldgeistliche... But, honestly, these are suggestions - and all I can think off without getting the big books out!

Does it have a Bekleidungsamt stamp?

The Prussian

Hello!

Could it be crimson or peach-red?

Bavarian Chevauleger regiments had:

Nr.1: crimson

Nr.2: crimson

Nr.3: peach-red

Nr.6: peach-red

It would appear to have belonged to Landsturmmann Fasche of ? Kompagnie, Ersatz Reserve 95?

Could also be a 23/28/25 instead of 95. Difficult to make out. No Bavarian by this name listed in the Verlustlisten.
