Minor changes to the Forum   12/12/17

We have altered the structure of the Home Fronts and Uniforms, Arms, Insignia, Equipment & Medals boards. We have removed the sub-category headings and now each board is more visible and easier to find. We have also renamed "About this website" and "Using theTechnology" to make it clearer where to post questions about the GWF website. We have also put a link ot the forum Rules on the main menu at the top to make them easier to find - particularly the section regarding requesting look ups on subscription sites such as Ancestry. Finally, for those who visit Skindles, there is a pinned post there detailing some changes to it.   Regards The GWF Admin Team

Dear Hugh,

Have you any idea when he was murdered? I found no mention of his death anywhere. He survived until 1921 at least, when his 1914 star clasp was issued/claimed.

John

John,

No, I'm afraid not. His medals were never hung though, if that's the right word. They're still in the box and the ribbons are unused. I'm not sure where to enquire about this sort of thing.

Hugh

Hugh,

His 1914 star was issued in May 1919, his pair much later, probably with the clasp in 1921. Perhaps he was murdered in service after this? He was commissioned in the MGC in 1917 & served in the Black Sea theatre of ops after 1919. Well worth researching, as he was an original RND Antwerp, Gallipoli, BEF man.
