-S- Suffix after RMA Number Any Significance?

I would be grateful for Pals help with regard to the significance if any of the Suffix= "-S-" following a RMA M.Mechanic's Number RMA 803-S-

Royal Marine Artillery enlisted for Short Service (WW1 hostilities only). Papers are at the Fleet Air Arm Museum:-

RMA/803(S); HILL, JH; Enlisted 15/04/1915; Discharged DEMOB; D.o.b. 31/03/1884; P.o.b. ISLINGTON
